It is a matter of fact that our current rate of posting in this forum is equivalent to that of a mostly-dead rp. Given that, we who were at the irc meeting today agreed to instate a new rule. The basic idea behind it is that it helps to make stuff happen in this kind of thing if stuff is, well, happening.
The rule is that (starting the monday after this post) it will be required for players to post in this forum once per day.
Now, of course, we are not going to require this of someone who physically can't do it. If you don't have access to a computer or the internet, well, there's just nothing to be done about it. However, the definition of impossible in this case is limited. It can take less than a minute to make an on-topic post here if you are in a hurry, and if you are able to spend more time on a good post, please do.
This is on the honor system. Nobody will be monitoring the statistics to make sure you're doing it. The logic behind this is that if we're not willing to take an absolute minimum of effort to spend time on this, we are essentially dead standing. Therefore, the meeting that will take place on Sunday the 23rd of September will be dedicated to considering whether or not this rule has been successful and if we have made any sort of progress.
(Note: This date is not set in stone. If it turns out to be a bad date for you, feel free to request a change.)

The Early RP section is open for business. If you're at a loss about what to post about, I suggest roleplaying in one of the existing threads there or making a new one.

I usually try coming here everyday anyway.

Also, sorry I wasn't at the meaning today. Went shopping for school supplies.

Well, it is more than just checking, but yeah, I get what you're saying.

And that's what this place is for, so we don't have to absolutely depend on real-time.

(Im actually incredibly angry right now, Im trying to be rational. If there is any part of this post that comes off as insulting its not directed at anyone. Im just angry)

This is NOT how to motivate people. A post quota? People are supposed to be participating because they in fact want to participate. The easiest solution to this is to give them something to participate IN. Help Laurie get her character up. Set an official date for the ACTUAL roleplaying to start. This preliminary stuff? Thats why I have a background area on my character sheet, I dont care about Kaiser before interacting with everyone, and it seems silly to bother with it.

Stop considering new plot elements to the roleplay, we need to focus. Nicekat, you have some really awesome ideas. But at this point we need to focus, we decided a long time ago as a FULL group the direction we wanted the roleplay going in as a basic game. Keep on that focus, let people have something to focus their minds on. This is why the roleplay has taken so long to start from the beginning because people keep looking over and begin arguing to change it to a new focus. This leads to arguing, this leads to negative feelings, it leads to lack of motivation.

If you want people to post, motivate them. NOT give them an ultimatum. Help Laurie get her character up, stop rocking the boat, and set a start date when we can begin roleplaying the actual session.

And also, some people seem to be confused. My deadline is still on. I need a start date.

I understand your point of view. To clarify: this is not about forcing people to show up or else. You point out, correctly, that in order for this to work, people need to be contributing because there is something to contribute to rather than out of fear. This is why it is entirely up to the person in question. Even if we could enforce it, it would be a bad idea and I wouldn't. The point is to form a habit. If people begin making at least one post per day, that's 14 posts of relevant material per day that we're getting, and the more stuff there is to respond to, the more likely people are to respond to it more often and the more they will think about it.

You are also right about focus. Let's get our interactions and personal plans together first, and just start. When is your deadline again?

If I recall correctly, I have almost everyone, so I just need to get those written up and clear up the last few. Shouldn't take long.

I need to figure something out with MGLVNA and Zael, maybe some more details with Multi. I'm pretty much good to go, and probably should get back to writing an introduction.

You know, if Lunar is the one officially starting us off, if she has everything she wants together, she could probably just start whenever.
