Early RPing Masterpost

Alright, guys, since no one else is hopping on this train, I'll start the ball rolling. If anyone wants to do some early RPing while we're still figuring stuff out, it (or copypastas of the pesterlogs) can go in this forum. Feel free to make a new thread for each interaction or RP thing you do, just make sure to link it to this post.

Also, I'mma just sort of start a thread here. People are free to join in, but try not to all at once (hah, like that's gonna be a problem.) Fair warning, my pesterchum is currently broken.

EDIT: Also might wanna give those links a color to make it easier to tell that they are links.

Hrrrrrrm. There should be a way to figure out how to change the color of a link. I know Lunar did on the "we're making this hapen" thread, but that one's locked, so I can't access the damn thing.
Any ideas?

Oh, to change the link color universally across the entire forum, I have to go into the admin panel and find where that kind of thing is handled (believe me, I've tried). But to color those specific links, just surround the text of the link with {color=#hexcode}{/color} (replace {} with [] for bbcode, obviously).

Welp. The problem was simple, then. I had the code for the color OUTSIDE of the code for the link. It needs to be inside, directly surrounding the linkname text. Thanks!

And now for some freakishly irritating and unknown reason, only admins can see those links. Wat.

A brief explanation on that rp thread I randomly put up: It was something I just sort of put there because we had nothing going. The reason I waited so long to put something there was because I was hoping someone else would take the initiative. Some of you may have noticed that Skotad's character kind of gets in the way of natural interaction, although in retrospect there was probably a better way to go about it.It wasn't exactly carefully thought through. But anyway, it was sort of inspired by this picture on skaianet. If you want to join in, please, please do. If you want to make a new thread that is totally unrelated, likewise, please do.

Also, given that early rping is going to be somewhat more freeform than regular rping, I would like to propose that we avoid adhering to any form of whatever organizing politeness we expect to have during the rp proper. If you want to do something, just sort of do it. Don't wait to ask, just mess around to your heart's content.

I'mma just use this thread as a general Out of Character thread to avoid clogging the In Character ones. As we get more In Character threads, we may need to add specialized out of character threads, but for now, this'll do, if nobody has any objections.

Considering how many FLARPers there are in session, that sounds like a good idea to me!

The appearances of FLARP in-comic are pretty vague on the details of how it works, so I'm gonna call that a great deal of creative freedom, because I'm greedy like that. Basically, my idea is that each of the four of us is dropped in a different spot in a small section of wilderness that none of us are familiar with. We are allowed whatever items we can carry and are permitted to communicate with our team mates. For the purposes of making this more interesting, I'm going to assume that the gaming flapstractions have a system by which a character is determined defeated (based on the g-f's player statistics) prior to them actually being badly injured and have a system in place to prevent too much combat damage. This would allow us to have inter-player combat.
I can't decide on whether the victory condition would be "last team with armed/undefeated member" or something to do with a monster killcount or something.
Spectating would, of course, be very possible.

If you look at what few pages showed Vriska's and Tavros' FLARP, it was mostly roleplaying and trying to act like the character you're dressed up as.
(In which case, Aerona is so set, being she has 4 outfits from different characters to chose from.)

They'll need a FLARP grub to lay the eggs that hatch into the Gaming Flapstractions to provide the actual adventure for the FLARPers. As well, each team needs a Clouder to program the other team's Flapstractions. That's pretty much the most we learn about FLARPing before it becomes a cycle of revenge in canon.

Right, I remember that stuff. But nothing said that was the only way that the game is played. We'd definitely need the hatching stuff and Flapstractions, but I think we should find a way to do this so that we're all playing the game together, rather than focusing on two separate and non-interacting campaigns going on at the same time.

Also, roleplaying is definitely a thing that can happen in this mode. Not that it's something that can't happen generally anyway.
